The Benefit of Cryo Sticks or Cold Therapy
Cold therapy is used to treat a variety of skin conditions including rosacea dermatitis and psoriasis. It reduces redness, swelling and minimizes pores by diminishing swollen tissue and broken capillaries. It has draining, decongesting, de-puffing, and firming effects, and assists with the delivery of products, allowing them to penetrate deeper into the pores. Used properly, it can help you achieve clearer, more radiant skin.
At Skincare by Rochel, we offer cold therapy in our treatments when our client’s skin is irritated, puffy or red. This treatment reduces the puffiness, removes redness and soothes the skin, promoting a pleasant cooling effect. These sculptural tools are a wonderful way to easily incorporate the benefits of cold therapy. Made of stainless steel, they retain their temperature very well and you can store them in your refrigerator for maximum cooling effect. Their ergonomic shape allows them to mold to many parts of your face and neck for a thorough treatment.
The Cryo-Sticks are great to use as an eye treatment for puffy eyes. As you gently place the sticks over your eyes, the cold diffuses to reduce redness and inflammation. We especially love using the Cryo Sticks over a hydrating mask when client’s skin feels irritated. The massaging action over the hydrating mask helps stimulate blood flow and reduces redness, and also helps seal the mask’s serum into the skin.
Pro tip: We also like to use these Cryo-Sticks on the temples for those clients with a migraine.
In addition to its soothing properties, the application of cold to the skin has a draining, decongestant, and firming effect. The cold sensation is picked up by receptors in the skin, causing a “goose bump” phenomenon, which stimulates nerve cells in the skin and has a tightening effect on the epidermis.
Cryotherapy – meaning cold therapy – has evolved into a wellness phenomenon, popular amongst Makeup Artists, Athletes, Beauty Editors and Beauty gurus. The rapid cooling of the skin increases blood flow to the area, bringing nutrients and oxygen to firm up and tone for instant results. The end goal is to lift, sculpt and tighten the skin.
